Nordex to supply turbines for Winergy’s Orla Wind Farm in Poland
12, August 2014

Nordex has secured a contract to supply and install nine turbines from its N100/2500 series for the initial construction phase of the 37.5MW Orla wind farm in Poland.

Under the contract, Nordex will supply cold climate versions of its 2.5MW turbine to the 22.5MW first phase, which is expected to start operations before the end of 2014.

Situated in the eastern part of Poland, the wind farm is expected to generate an annual energy yield of up to 100 gigawatt/hours and reduce about 57,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided the finance for the project.

Nordex board management member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard said: “This is going to be the first realization from our pipeline of own developed projects in Poland.

“It is a good illustration of how Nordex can provide more value to the market with quality projects.”

Poland plans to nearly double the renewable energies proportion in its national energy balance to 20% by 2021 under the targets set by the European Union.
