Sector: Transportation
Investment Date: December 2010 and August 2011

Derech Eretz Highways is responsible for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Cross Israel Highway (Route 6) under a 30 year concession agreement.

Route 6 is an innovative and advanced electronic toll road spanning 170 km from the north to the south of Israel.  It serves as a major traffic artery for traveling to the north or the south and it connects peripheral residential areas to the center of the country. This is the largest BOT infrastructure project undertaken in Israel in recent years.

The road opened for commercial operation in 2004 and in 2009 completed an 18km expansion. It currently accommodates over 100,000 cars daily. There are plans for future expansion.

IIF led and manages a co-investment vehicle in the project.

In January 2015, IIF sold its interest in the Cross Israel Highway to Clal Insurance Ltd.
